The “Know Your Data” Program for Hospital Doctors

The purpose of the “Know Your Data” initiative is to improve data literacy and identify opportunities for improving outcomes for Albertans. “Know Your Data” is a provincial AHS initiative to provide individualized physician level and team-level data to support quality improvement activities. This data will help physicians reflect on clinical practice, identify possible opportunities to change and be empowered to make improvements to patient care.

Mike worked directly with the project team to create digital stories that are shared at the beginning of “Know your Data” consults with hospital doctors to contextualize the data and bring a person-centred tone to the ensuing conversations. It was reported that the digital stories help improve engagement with the data that was presented and help stimulate meaningful conversations between the project team and the hospitalists.
